Tarana Taylor
PIANIST
Tarana Taylor is a classically trained diverse pianist highly experienced in solo, vocal, instrumental, chamber, orchestral, theatre and ballet music. She has worked with notable American organizations such as the Houston Ballet Company and Academy, Houston Repertoire Ballet, Ballet Center of Houston, HSPVA, Cypress Philharmonic, as well as overseas organizations like Barcelona Ballet, Doha Choir, Doha Community Orchestra, Doha Players, Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theatre, Baku Music Academy.
She has a thorough knowledge of ballet class and repertoire music, as well as character dance music. She has played classes and rehearsals for eminent ballet masters and choreographers, like Stanton Welch, Ben Stevenson, Mark Morris, Angel Corella, Louise Lester, Victoria Simon, Johnny Eliasen, Yannick Boquin.
She started her music education in Moscow, Russia, graduated from Baku Music Academy in Azerbaijan Ms. Taylor holds Master of Music degree in Piano Solo, Chamber Music and Accompanying, as well as MBA degree in Marketing and PR. Having worked as a staff pianist for Houston Ballet for 7 years she continued with her passion for solo and chamber music from the great classical and contemporary composers regularly performing throughout the United States and Europe. Ms. Taylor has recently launched a new career as a freelance pianist and teacher and currently is working on a special program she developed for teaching pianists to play for ballet classes, rehearsals and introducing them to character dance music, as well as introducing ballet teachers to musical terms and ways of interpreting their music requirements to pianists.
