Amanda Powell
INSTRUCTOR
Amanda Powell, a BCH and HRB alumna, began her professional career with Houston Metropolitan Dance Company and then spent 5 years performing and doing commercial gigs in New York. She taught at Broadway Dance Center as the late Josh Widick’s assistant, and was an original cast member of the Off-Broadway show “Thin Line – A Dance Drama” directed and choreographed by Derek Mitchell.
In 2008, Amanda accepted a contract with Carnival Cruise Lines. During her time with CCL she met her husband, Timothy Salaz, a fellow dancer, and had the privilege of sharing the stage together for several years. In 2014, they moved to Las Vegas, NV where Amanda learned new performance skills like stilt walking, living statue and Lyra as well as earned an internationally accredited Pilates certification with BASI Pilates.
Over the years she has performed in musical theatre productions like “Chicago,” “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang;” numerous ballets, “The Nutcracker,” “Swan Lake,” “Giselle,” and “The Sleeping Beauty,” to name a few, and has worked with such notable choreographers as Jane Weiner, Sandra Organ, Kevin Wynn, Max Stone and Jana Hicks.
