Summer Intensive 2024
Summer intensive is a two week program for our BCH Levels 6-10, comprised of classes taught by BCH faculty members and guest teachers from around the U.S. and abroad. Counted among past teachers are Clara Cravey, Dawn Scannell, Zachary Carrol, Roudolf Kharatian, Davida Haas, Elizabeth Keller, Jared Matthews, Jane Weiner, Kristina Windom, Priscilla Murphy, Grace Snider, Allison Miller, Emily Dyson, Dana Lewis, Joe Istre, Lauren Anderson, and many others. The program is normally offered during the first and second full weeks of June.
We welcome outside students to join us. Audition is required. Please email info@balletcenterofhouston.com to make arrangements for a free placement class.
For those interested in membership in Houston Repertoire Ballet’s company, this is a mandatory program in order to be considered for HRB membership.

This year’s program will include ballet, pointe, Modern dance, conditioning, repertoire, variations, and musical theatre (Levels 8-10).
Registration: Current students should enroll online in the appropriated class as advised. (A 15% non-refundable deposit will be collected upon enrollment). Visiting and new students will be advised of their group placement after attending a placement class. Payments may be made online via your parent portal or with check, cash, or cc in the office. All placed students are encouraged to reserve their spot in the program by May 1 as we have limited space. The tuition balance will be posted in mid-May and payment is due by May 31, 2024.
Class attire: SoDanca SL115 or SL116 Leotard (Black Levels 8-10 and Burgundy Levels 6-7), SoDanca TS95 or TS96 “theatrical pink” convertible, back-seamed mesh tights, pink leather ballet shoes. Tutus are allowed in Variations class or appropriate HRB rehearsals only. (HRB Company members must have the leotard monogrammed with the HRB logo at Dance Trends, leotards must be purchased at Dance Trends)
We are especially excited to welcome this year’s guest teacher, Davida Haas-Oglesbee! Along with Ann Gavit and our BCH Faculty!
Davida Haas-Oglesbee, currently on staff at Portland Ballet, began her ballet training in Milan, Italy at the age of 8. She danced professionally with the Boston Ballet II, Houston Ballet, Oregon Ballet Theater, and The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Mrs. Oglesbee danced such notable roles as Clara/Marie in The Nutcracker, Juliet in Romeo and Juliet, and the Peasant Pas de Deux in Giselle. She has worked with choreographers such as Ben Stevenson, Gerald Arpino, Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Donald Byrd and Josie Moseley.
Before moving to Houston, Ann Gavit was on the dance faculty of New Mexico State University where she served as the ballet coordinator as well as director of the contemporary performing company. Ann was the associate director at Barbara Driscoll School of Ballet in El Paso for 15 years and was the artistic director of the studio’s pre-professional company, Ballet du Coeur. Ann has a Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Dance from New Mexico State University. During her performing career, she was a company member of the Denton Civic Ballet, Ballet Chrysalis, and International Dance Theatre.
