Regardless of a child’s experience and ability, Ballet Center of Houston offers a broad curriculum, starting with beginner classes for those who want to try ballet to advanced training for pre-professionals.

At the end of the academic season, students at all levels have an optional opportunity to dance in BCH’s Spring Showcase, giving them an opportunity to perform before an audience and to show friends and family their progress and what they have learned during the year.

Pre-Professional Division (Levels 5 – 7)
Students, twelve and older, intensify their training with additional classes dedicated to pointe work, vocabulary, technique and artistry.   And, those interested in pursuing ballet as a career often attend summer programs at leading U.S. ballet schools where they meet their peers, work with some of our country’s best teachers and live in and discover the cultures of other cities.   Students must audition at these levels.

Level 5 students attend two-to-three 1 ½ -hour technique classes and one 1 ½ pointe class per week, and at Level 6, they expand their studio time to include four 1 ½ technique classes, one 1 ½-hour pointe class and one 1 ½ -hour pointe/variation classes.

In the Pre-Professional Division, students also have unique opportunities to perform in pre-professional productions through the Houston Repertoire Ballet, which makes its home at Ballet Center of Houston, and was co-founded by Ms. Vittum to give her talented students a chance to perform onstage before a theater audience.
